The service remains in excellent form for the month courtesy recent winning highlights including Formidable Force (10/3), Regal Envoy (11/4), Lennon (5/2) and Coco Royal (7/2) . Much more traditional summer ground looks assured at Royal Ascot for the duration of the week, with watering commencing on Monday and although the vast majority of the information and news for Ascot will be sent out to members only – I’ll be including one or two previews for each day of the meeting on here and hopefully it’s something we can all collectively benefit from.
For the St James’s Palace Stakes on the Tuesday (4.25), I’m going to keep things very simple. Richard Hannon hasn’t beaten about the bush in regards to just how much he thinks of Rosallion and having been 2nd to Notable Speech in the English 2000 Guineas when keen throughout, things are expected to be much closer this Tuesday. A lot of services will be on this chap each way against the fave and I’d strongly recommend taking the 4/1 whilst you can!
Moving on to the Copper Horse Handicap (6.15) I’m going to keep things simple and opt for the Stoute trained Fox Journey who was a horse I followed last year and his last run over this trip was an excellent 3rd in the Melrose Handicap behind Middle Earth. He seemingly took his form to a whole new level on his first start this season when winning a 12f handicap by 11 lengths, and the handicapper could have been a lot harsher than giving him only a 9lb rise for that and the booking of Ryan Moore shouldn’t be underestimated.
