Following yet another great week or so on the service at the May Chester Festival with our maximum selection landing on Sunday at Newcastle, we’re about to kick off the York Dante Festival on Wednesday, a meeting we tend to do extremely well at.

THE POUNCING LION (Michael Bell) – This colt was given a glowing report by his trainer both before the race and via our contact leading up to the race itself. Unfortunately this horse simply failed to handle Chester on the day, never looking at ease on the track. He’s felt to be a long way ahead of his mark and back on a more conventional track next time out he’s well worth keeping on side.

SPACE LEGEND (William Haggas) – This four-year old Wathan owned son of Sea the Stars has reportedly improved as a four-year old this year and wasn’t seen to best effect on his reappearence at Chester in the Huxley Stakes when caught too far back (was also short of room late on). He was well punted on the day (4/1 into 9/4) and will be winning races again in the near future once stepped back up in trip to 1m4f+

HIGH STOCK (Andrew Balding) – He produced a massive effort to go down on the line to an Aiden O’Brien trained horse on just his second start in the Dee Stakes. He looked to have slipped the field (traded 1.42 in running) at one point before being reeled in, but is considered one of the best colt’s in the stable and is one to keep firmly on side. He’s just the type to take another significant step forward from his second to third start.
